“how stupid could you be?“
– AjRc, in a conversation, about katyn, earlier in the day
the relationship between the katyn massacre and the recent plane crash that killed poland’s leader fits the marxian formulation of historical events repeating themselves: first as tragedy, then as farce. although, contrary to a zizekian reading of the recent plane crash, this is not an example of farce that is more horrific than the tragedy.
seriously, poland, what were you thinking? you pretty much put “all of your eggheads into one aeroplane.”
at least the polish elite who died in 1940 were massacred. it seems more like suicide for 90-odd polish elite to all die in the same plane crash … don’t even get me started on the laughing god irony of the whole situation.
