Kevin Barnes’ “Wicked Wisdom”

Do you notice a difference in reaction between American and European audiences when it comes to the sexual and violent parts of the stage show?

Not really. It’s pretty much the same when we go to Europe or other countries. I think we appeal to a certain kind of person all over the world. That kind of person is definitely in the minority as far as human beings go. But there’s a good contingent of them all over the world. We’re pretty much playing to same species of human or whatever you want to call it.

The above quote is from this pretty cool interview with of Montreal frontman, Kevin Barnes. Its awesome how he says “that kind of person is definitely in the minority as far as human beings go.”

Upcoming Concert: of Montreal

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend this concert for reasons beyond my control. In essence the reality of space and distance will prevent me from being there. O! why couldn’t they have scheduled their show for a Friday or Saturday!

It’s a real bummer because I’d really like to hear “Famine Affair” live.

They are playing on May 3rd, 2011, at The Phoenix. I will try to go, but it seems as if the possibility of that is like a person at sea, each wave takes them farther away from land.

Here’s a cool song called “Sex Karma,” with Solange Knowles (aka Beyoncé’s sister).

Famine Affair, Don’t Stand By Me remix

of Montreal has invited fans to remix their song, “Famine Affair.” I listened to a bunch of them. I think this one is the best, even if it doesn’t win. Its Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and of Montreal’s “Famine Affair.” Although it is a little awkward at first, the overall effect is one of hilariousness.

Famine Affair (Don’t Stand By Me remix).

I really do think that Girl Talk wishes he thought of this first.

of Montreal, Famine Affair video

My favourite song off their new album now has a video. Check it out. It is certainly much different from their other videos; does it remind anyone else of Orpheus being torn apart by the Bacchae?

And, I think I have been the guy in the video in a past life—minus the suit and tie of course.

Kevin Barnes’ explanation of the video is, um, HILARIOUS!!!
